Homeopathic Treatment

Connemara Pony Testimonial

Minna is a 14.2h grey mare.  She is 20 years old and developed a condition called ringbone at an early age.  I bought Minna when she was 19 to retire her from a riding school and to care for her in her golden years.  Ringbone is caused by horses being heavily worked on hard surfaces as their bodies develop and consequently an uneven growth of the pastern occurs.

Ringbone can be painful and is an incurable condition which causes the horse or pony to limp severely.  They do of course improve slightly over the winter months due to softer ground and it can be masked by anti inflammatory and cooling gels.

Having used homeopathic remedies for some of our families other animals I was keen to see if there was anything that could help Minna.

Kath Kelly suggested Calc Fluor 6c.  Starting during the summer months I gave 3 drops directly into my pony’s mouth on a daily basis for 3 weeks combined with a 2 week remedy of Hecla Lava 30c. There was initially no improvement for 3 weeks and I continued to give Minna 3 drops of Calc Flour daily and Minna seemed to be in less pain after approximately 6 weeks.  I therefore continued with this treatment (which I might add has been very cost effective) for 6 months.

Minna still has her Calc Flour daily and seems much happier and generally in a lot less pain.  I have no doubt that she will really enjoy this winter as her condition has improved over a time when it should normally be at its worst.

I am very thankful to homeopathy and in particular to Kath Kelly who took the time to really explore how she could help my pony.

I would certainly recommend homeopathy as Kath has been able to substantially ease the pain of a condition that was thought to be incurable.

Thank you Kath.
